Now about the motor. From what I have seen this is the only available motor that works well with small kayaks. The big bonus is the ultra light weight and you don't need a huge 50 AH battery to run it. I'm running on a 35 AH compact Lead Acid Battery.
Performance is rather amazing. My boat really cruises. Faster than I could paddle in an all -out sprint. I was worried 24 pounds of thrust would be disappointing, but it's as fast as i would want to go. Anything more powerful would be overkill and HEAVY.
If you are looking for a light kayak motor I truly recommend this one. Make sure to screw the prop on tight (Opposite of me) and maybe pick up an extra prop from customer service. It would be good to have an extra on hand.
First impressions, the power is good don't have a way to measure speed but definitely was faster than I could paddle at full strength. Perfect for small lakes. The 24" is on the small end and had to make a few adjustments to my mount so that it could probably be deep enough in the water, after that it was perfect but really was considering a 30". The best part about this though is the portability of it, it's extremely light, small so easy to throw anywhere in the car or the kayak when loading.
Cons
24" rod a little too small but made it work though i have to reach low hold the trolling motor handle
Could use battery meter especially for it's price point
Handle is small, like maybe 4" also little flimsy
Propeller seems very brittle and weak, replacement oem is even worse but hasn't broke yet
I bought two of them and I am worried that the second has the same issue.
Don't buy!!!!
